Resort Facts - Meribel and the Three Valleys

Guaranteed snow cover

The minimum altitude level for skiing in the 3 Valleys area is 1300 metres and the maximum 3230 metres, meaning that 85% of the ski area is located above 1800 metres. There are 25 accessible summits, 10 of which are in excess of 2500 metres.

Thanks to natural qualities (altitude) and regular, ongoing investments in cultured snow production, the 3 Valleys area is able to guarantee snow cover from the beginning of December until the end of April over the entire ski area, offering wide ski runs that are maintained nightly by 80 piste grooming machines. 2000 snow making machines cover 1/3 of the ski area.

The world's largest ski area, accessible to skiers of all levels

600 kms of ski runs over 40 000 hectares, totalling some 400km² (4 times greater than the surface area of Paris). 330 marked alpine ski runs: (13% green, 39% blue, 38% red and 10% black). A ski area designed as much for seasoned skiers as it is for beginners and children.

The 3 Valleys boasts the world’s most modern and comfortable ski lift network: 180 ski lifts, including 2 cable cars, 33 gondolas and 40 high speed chair lifts.

Safe, carefree skiing
The 3 Valleys is one of the safest ski areas in the world, offering the very latest technology when it comes to both ski lifts and ski slopes (preventative avalanche triggering, marking of runs, extremely fast piste rescue services).

There are also safe learning zones dedicated specifically to children and beginners.

The Meribel area

Meribel is divided into three main areas and offers a free bus service which is frequent and reliable.

·       Meribel centre

·       Meribel 1600

·       Meribel Rond Point

Meribel centre

The main lift station is La Chaudanne, affording easy access to all areas.

Meribel 1600

Is a quieter area away from the general hub, just above the centre but only a short walk or a free bus ride away, either to the centre or the main lift station. The Morel chairlift whisks you up to the Altiport ski area and it is possible to ski back to this lift so access to the slopes is excellent when you are staying at 1600.

Rond Point

The higher level of Meribel and famous for the Rond Point après ski bar, situated on the piste with a large sunny terrace. From here it is easy to ski back to La Chaudanne in the centre. You can also access the fast 8 man chair at L’Adray which takes you up to the Saulire where you will rarely find a queue, even in the morning rush!
